Former Steelers WR Chase Claypool Takes Shot at Bears

The former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout doesn't believe he's being utilized properly in the Chicago Bears system.

PITTSBURGH -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool hasn't had the fastest start to a season, catching just four passes for 51 yards and a touchdown with the Chicago Bears this season.

He's trying to make the most of the situation, but Claypool recently opened up about the struggles on offense, and didn't hold back that the game plan isn't helping him succeed.

When asked by ESPN's Courtney Cronin," Do you feel like you’ve been put in the best position for you as a receiver to showcase the best of what you can do?" He took a pause, then answered, "No."

"I think every situation has the ability to be ideal, and I think we're just working towards that," Claypool said. "I'm not going to say that. I wouldn't say it's not an ideal place for me. Obviously, there's other places -- you can say, 'Oh, I want to be on the best offense with the highest passing yards,' but that doesn't happen in football. You just have to make do with what you got."

The Steelers' former second-round pick is on the final year of his rookie contract and has yet to surpass 200 total yards in 10 games with Chicago. Meanwhile, the team is 0-3 and is being questioned at every position, including their coaching staff.

"Sometimes the things around you either elevate you or you have to adapt to allow you to elevate with them," Claypool said. "So I've just been adapting to the new system and my new role in the system and trying to make the most out of it."

Where Claypool and the Bears go from here is unknown, but his future in Chicago appears dim, and has more negativity surrounding it then anything.
