PITTSBURGH -- The controversy around Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and the hit in Week 2 that ended Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubbs' season has continued, but one huge name in the rival has spoken out to defend the safety.

The hit has been a major topic of debate throughout the week, with some coming at Fitzpatrick that it was dirty, and others defending that it's part of the game. Now, Browns defensive end Myles Garett is joining the conversation, standing up for the hit Fitzpatrick made.

"Minkah didn’t do anything illegal," Garrett said. "He was playing the game how it’s supposed to be played. It was very unfortunate what happened. Nick getting held up but just having, just planting his foot and the hit and all that. That’s not unlike what corners around the league do. This is something that’s very common."

Fitzpatrick said he spoke with Chubb after the to assure he knew he didn't mean for anything negative to happen. He also defended the tackle, saying he is not a dirty player.

"It’s a tough injury. Unfortunately, it’s part of the game that we play," Fitzpatrick said. "You know, people are going to say I had ill will behind the tackle. That’s not the case whatsoever. I’m a guy that’s a competitor that’s gonna go out there and play the game. I’m chippy, I’m edgy, of course, but I’m not a dirty player. I’m not gonna sit here and defend my character. I know the type of player I am, Chubb knows the type of player I am. I’ve played against him the past five years, two times a year and I love competing against him. He brings the best outta me, and I bring the best outta him. No chance that I there would try and purposely injure somebody."

Fellow Steelers players have also spoken out in defense of Fitzpatrick, and this point, both sides seem to have moved on from the play.
