PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be making a few changes to their offense. As they close out their second week of training camp, the team has started utilizing two players in different positions, and so far, there have been notable payoffs.

Offensive lineman Kendrick Green made his fullback debut during the team's night practice and lit up the crowd when he, well, lit up a defense, running over rookie Toby Ndukwe twice. The first came on a reception, and the second on a block the play after.

Green said after practice that his fullback days were likely coming to an end after that one go, but that appears not to be true. The next day, Green returned to the backfield, taking first-team reps at fullback. He even caught another pass, running over inside linebacker Tanner Muse, before gaining 10-plus yards.

Green isn't the only one working at a new position. Tight end Connor Heyward has been utilized at fullbacks multiple times this offseason, but for the first time this summer, he's beginning to work at tailback.

Heyward did run the ball in college at Michigan State, but he has been used mostly as a tight end in Pittsburgh. Through nine days of training camp practice, he's run the ball in two practices.

Heyward is viewed as a highly versatile player for the Steelers. Coming into the offseason, it felt as if they'd use him in multiple different roles. That appears to be happening as they approach the preseason.

As for Green, his plays at fullback seem to have the crowd excited, and if the big man can continue to shine, he may have a new place for the Steelers.
