Would Tom Brady Actually Unretire?

The greatest quarterback of all time may have one more run in him.

PITTSBURGH -- Could Tom Brady actually unretire? And would the Pittsburgh Steelers even consider it if he was as open as he sounds?

"Let's say, one day there's a situation. Maybe it's the 49ers, heading to the playoffs. Offense is great. ... Somebody goes down. Would you pick up that phone?"

That's the question that made its way through the internet yesterday, taking over NFL social media as everyone pondered whether or not Tom Brady could actually come out of retirement for one final playoff run.

"I'm not opposed to it," Brady replied. "I don't know if they're going to let me if I become an owner of an NFL team, but I don't know. I'm always going to be in good shape. Always going to be able to throw the ball. So, for a little bit, like [Michael Jordan] coming back, I don't know if they'd let me but I wouldn't be opposed to it."

It came during an episode of DEEPCUT podcast with Vic Blends, produced by Shadow Lion. In it, Brady talks about the next quarterback to win a Super Bowl, the trials and tribulations that he's been through during his life, and, of course, a potential return to football.

"I'm going to be honest; I think Tom is real serious when he says something like that," Blends said in an interview with All Steelers. "I don't think this guy lies one bit. If he says something then he means. I can't say it's 100%, but I can say that guy does not F around."

How does Blends know? He doesn't, but for a glimpse of time, he got to sit down with the "real Tom" and chat about life, about football and about what comes next. And that opened the door to see how Brady really feels when it comes to questions like his return.

"It was very special because I got to get the real Tom," Blends said. "There was no media Tom here. There was no sports Tom here really. It was just me and Tom, having a real conversation about what mattered the most to us and the battles that we go through and the adversity that we've come over."

How does it work for the Steelers? Well, they have two quarterbacks in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, but that doesn't guarantee anything. This team is hunting for a Super Bowl and is willing to take no risks in their efforts to get there.

"I'm trying to do everything I can to help. I owe it toSteeler nation to do everything I can to try to get to the Super Bowl," general manager Omar Khan said at the NFL Meetings. "And every decision that we make and that we talk about, every move that we make and talk about is based on that. Sometimes we make moves we make decisions. Sometimes we don't, but it'salways with the intent of doing what we can to get to the second week in February."

If their first plan doesn't work, why not go after a second? Or really a third? They've already moved on from all of their quarterbacks this offseason, it wouldn't surprise anyone if they did it again to ensure they made the playoffs - and went on a run.

With Mike Tomlin running the show, anything can happen. This team is always on the verge of a playoff birth. And if Brady sees the opportunity to make noise in the AFC, this time with his third NFL team, why wouldn't he.

More From Blends:

"This was definitely the most surreal one," Blends said on his interview with Brady. "Of course, I was nervous, but I knew I was prepared. And I knew that with any journey that a person is going to have in their life, you'll be prepared along the way. God will never put you in position where you don't have the tools necessary to perform. I trusted in my intuition. I trusted in the skills that I have and I trusted the journey that I've taken to be here, so in that moment, I knew it was game time. It was my Super Bowl. It was my chance to show the world that I'm truly meant for what it is I believe I am and I'm truly about bringing something positive to the world. Man, it was game time for me."
