'Glad To Stay In Texas!' DE Dylan Horton 'Excited' to Join DeMeco Ryans, Texans

Dylan Horton was one of eight TCU players to be drafted in 2023, but the only one to stay in Texas, where he will get to continue to shine on defensive under DeMeco Ryans.

For NFL players, getting the call from a GM on draft night is a dream come true.

The Houston Texans made that dream a reality for its nine-player draft class, and each time, the result was a mixture of emotions and excitement to join DeMeco Ryans in Houston. But arguably none were more excited than the Houston-born edge rusher Dylan Horton.

"I was born in Houston and raised in Frisco," Horton said. "I'm extremely glad to stay in Texas, have my family come out to the games and be a part of this community."

After two seasons in New Mexico, Horton moved to Fort Worth, where he burst onto the Big 12 scene as a major impact player for Sonny Dykes. He was the eighth Horned Frog to be taken in this year's draft, the highest number among Texas schools. He also played a key role in TCU's trip to the national title game.

Horton finished his Horned Frogs career, with 99 tackles, adding 14 sacks and a forced fumble.

"I'm super excited," Horton said in a recent interview. "[Ryans] is a great head coach, a great person and I'm just excited to be a part of his team."

Horton will now join No. 3 overall pick Will Anderson Jr. along the front, with the pair hoping to provide much-need impact and depth to a defensive line that struggled mightily in 2022.
