Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio is busy evaluating talent for the draft as well as potential free agent signings since the NFL Scouting Combine is over.

Part of that process?

NFL Pro Days all around the country are already underway, and, as Caserio told HoustonTexans.com, the front office plans to use those to their advantage.

"We'll probably be more free-agent-centric," Caserio said. "We'll start to bring players in the building for 30-man visits. Because we're in Houston, we probably have more local players that qualify that won't count against the 30. We'll have some draft visits the following weeks for agents following week, a little bit more Pro Days coaches might go out and the following week are the league meetings."

Additionally, the annual league meeting takes place later in March, and Caserio will be attending with new Texans coach DeMeco Ryans and CEO Cal McNair.

"The coaches will be off the end of the month there, a little bit of a reprieve, and then that second week in April, Phase One of the offseason program," Caserio said. "So that's about the next four to five weeks. There's a lot to get done in that period of time. Certainly, you're not going to accomplish everything overnight, but everybody's excited about where we are, where we're headed and just keep moving forward. That's the most important thing."

Free agency begins on Wednesday at 3 p.m. CT and the Texans have their eyes on several targets to improve the team.

Houston has already made notable moves like acquiring OL Shaq Mason from Tampa Bay. Mason spent one season with the Bucs, giving up just one sack from his right guard position. He started in all 17 games and played 1200 snaps - 99 percent of the team's offensive plays.

Before that, Mason spent his time in New England where he was drafted by Caserio.

Still unsure who will be under center for the team next season, the Texans are attempting to stockpile talent at the WR position. On Tuesday they signed former Cowboys wideout Noah Brown to a one-year deal.

In five seasons with Dallas, he helped the Cowboys finish the 2022 campaign with a 12-5 record, and recorded 555 yards on 43 catches and three touchdowns, which marked a career year in Dallas.

And on the defensive side of the ball, Houston signed veteran defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway.

Ridgeway is joining the Texans after a one-year stint with the San Francisco 49ers. He appeared in 12 out of a possible 17 games and recorded 28 tackles, four quarterback hits and a sack.
