NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Titans need offensive line help, and an old name, with a new physic, could be just the low-cost, value addition general manager Ran Carthon has been signing.

DJ Fluker was the 13th overall selection in the 2013 NFL draft by the then-San Diego Chargers. He was supposed to be the answer at tackle for his new team. Fluker spent four seasons on the wast coast, beginning at tackle, then moving to guard, before finishing his final four years in Baltimore.

Size and strength were never his issues, though too much size and the limitations it put on his movement were. At his heaviest, Fluker tipped the scales at an ugly 385 lbs.

However, during these last two seasons away from the league, Fluker has learned about his body, diet, and the proper way to eat and work out.

He's transformed into a 330 lb. hulk of a human that looked like he was chiseled from granite rather than built by Blimpies.

On Thursday, Fluker returned to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to participate in the pro day workouts, where he gained his initial first-round grades. He was part of one of the most dominant offensive lines in recent memory for the Crimson Tide of Alabama.

While most attention was focused on current Tide signal caller Bryce Young, Fluker took his turn with the current crop of Tide lineman hopefuls and didn't disappoint.

His movements looked better than when he was initially drafted, and the punch he displayed in his hands was jolting, even from television.

Flukers, final year contract was for $84,000. While he would likely want more now, he is still a player not without risk, meaning that a solid, one-year prove-it deal is the most he can hope to receive until he has proven his metamorphosis will translate to the field.

I don't know what Titans general manager Ran Carthon and head coach Mike Vrable thought, but based on my view, it would be wise to begin a conversation with Fluker's agent Deryk Gilmore before the team's plane leaves Tuscaloosa.

After all, the current fee agent signing theme has been lower cost, with a higher potential upside. Fluker seems primed for that upside, and the Titans could be the team to benefit from giving him a second chance.
