Quarterback Alex Smith made his first NFL appearance in almost 2 years on Sunday. After Washington Football Team’s Starting quarterback Kyle Allen was knocked out of the game in the 2nd quarter- Smith entered the matchup to face the Rams.

The 36-year-old quarterback suffered a broken tibia and fibula in his right leg in November of 2018 and underwent 17 surgeries, on Sunday he showed the league that he is back and ready to play. With his wife Elizabeth and their 3 children in the stands cheering him on, Smith completed his first pass attempt after entering the game and went 9-for-17 for 37 yards.

Washington was unable to rally after Smith entered the game and lost to the Rams 30-10. With Kyle Allen's status unclear and Dwayne Haskins being recently benched, there is a path for Smith to be inserted into the starting lineup next week in a divisional matchup against the New York Giants.
