Vikings outside linebacker Marcus Davenport has a high-ankle sprain, which usually comes which a recovery time of four to six weeks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapaport. That means Davenport could end up on injured reserve this week.

The injury occurred early in the second quarter of the Vikings' win over the Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday. Davenport hopped off the field after playing 17 snaps and was eventually taken to the locker room on a cart. After the game, he was spotted wearing a walking boot.

It's been a frustrating first season in Minnesota for Davenport, a 2018 first-round pick who spent five seasons with the Saints. He missed all but four snaps during the first three games of the season due to an ankle issue, then recovered and played well against the Panthers and Chiefs in recent weeks. Now he's got a significant injury to his other ankle, not the one that gave him trouble in September.

Unfortunately, injuries have been a recurring theme in Davenport's career dating back to his time in New Orleans. He's missed time due to a wide variety of ailments, never playing more than 540 snaps in a season.

The Vikings will lean on Danielle Hunter, D.J. Wonnum, and Pat Jones II at OLB in Davenport's absence. Undrafted rookie Andre Carter II, who was a healthy scratch this weekend, also figures to be active and possibly have a role.
