Injuries piled up for the Vikings during their 30-24 loss against the Lions on Sunday. Four important starters — Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, Mekhi Blackmon, and D.J. Wonnum — left the game and were unable to return.

Addison's injury is an ankle. Hockenson's is a knee; he took a hard, direct shot to the knee on a catch in the third quarter. Wonnum was carted off with what the Vikings believe is a quad injury. Blackmon hurt his shoulder.

It sounds like Blackmon's injury may not be particularly serious, but the other three are undergoing further evaluation and there's concern that their injuries are significant.

"I do believe so," Kevin O'Connell said when asked if some of the injuries appear serious. "I can't confirm any of those, but with two weeks left to go... we've got some really tough guys, we've got some guys that are all trying to battle their way back in there, but I do believe so."

These are major, major losses for the Vikings, who are on the outside of the playoff picture looking in with two games left (against the Packers and Lions). Hockenson and Addison are two of the their top three targets in the passing game. Wonnum is having a strong season in a contract year, racking up eight sacks, six passes defended, and a fumble return touchdown.

More updates on the statuses of these injured players should become available in the coming days.
