Vikings Work Out QB Colt McCoy, 7 Others on Tuesday

In this story:
The Vikings worked out eight players at TCO Performance Center on Tuesday, according to the NFL's transactions wire. The most notable of the group is 37-year-old veteran quarterback Colt McCoy, who has 36 NFL starts to his name.
McCoy was a third-round pick by the Browns out of Texas in 2010 after finishing top-three in Heisman voting in consecutive years. He started 21 games for Cleveland in his first two seasons, going 6-15 with 20 touchdowns and 20 picks. Since then, he's had stops in San Francisco, Washington, New York (Giants), and Arizona. McCoy has started at least one game in each of the previous five seasons, including six for the Cardinals over the last two years. For his career, he's 11-25 as a starter with 34 TDs and 32 INTs.
McCoy spent six seasons in Washington, overlapping with Kirk Cousins from 2014-18 and Kevin O'Connell from 2017-19. There's plenty of familiarity there if he were to join the Vikings.
This probably doesn't mean anything regarding Cousins and a possible trade. Backup Nick Mullens is still dealing with a lower-back injury, and the Vikings released ex-Gopher Tanner Morgan from their practice squad on Tuesday.
These are the seven other players the Vikings worked out:
- DL Marvin Wilson
- DL Marquan McCall
- TE Sal Cannella
- TE Troy Fumagalli
- WR E.J. Jenkins
- G Chris Glaser
- C James Empey
