Watch: Incredible Josh Dobbs Scramble Sets Up Vikings Touchdown
Josh Dobbs might not know the Vikings' playbook very well yet, but he does know how to keep a play alive with his legs.
Dobbs, who was acquired on Tuesday, was thrust into action in Atlanta on Sunday when rookie Jaren Hall was ruled out for the game with a concussion. Early on, Dobbs looked like a guy who barely knew what he was doing in a new offense. He took a safety and then lost a fumble on his first two series at quarterback.
But just before halftime, Dobbs showed off one of the traits that makes him interesting: His athleticism. Facing a third and 10 from the Falcons' 13, he was able to escape a sack and scramble for a miraculous conversion. Dobbs ended up all the way back at the 32 before turning the corner and dashing up the sideline for a diving first down.

Two plays later, Dobbs hit Alexander Mattison for a two-yard touchdown pass to get the Vikings right back into the game.
Dobbs not only had 1,569 passing yards and eight touchdowns with the Cardinals in the first eight games of the season, he also had 258 yards and three touchdowns as a runner. That dual-threat ability is something the Vikings didn't have under Kirk Cousins.
