It's desperation time for both the Vikings and Panthers this week.

At 0-3, both teams' playoff hopes are already in major trouble. Whichever team loses this game and drops to 0-4 can officially start thinking more about draft positioning next spring than a postseason berth in the winter.

The Vikings come into this one carrying major frustration, due to their internal expectations for this season and the agonizing nature of their three defeats. This is a team that won 13 games and a division title last season and came into 2023 fully intending on defending its NFC North crown. A league-high nine turnovers has been one of the major reasons why the Vikings have lost all three of their games by a total of just 13 points.

The Panthers, meanwhile, were projected to be among the NFL's worst teams this season as they move forward in their rebuild. This year's No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young will be making his third career start on Sunday after missing last week's game with an ankle injury. His top target is 33-year-old Adam Thielen, who will be playing against his former team for the first time.
