Earning a point in their game against San Jose on Feb. 22 would give the Blackhawks a new NHL record for best start, breaking the one set by the Anaheim Ducks during their 2006-07 Stanley Cup-winning campaign. The Hawks opened the lockout-shortened 48-game 2013 season 13-0-3 (29 points) with only shootout losses to Minnesota (Jan. 30), Vancouver (Feb. 1) and the Ducks (Feb. 12) before going for the mark against the Sharks.

In the NHL, the San Jose Sharks are trying to keep their seven-year run alive. Here's a look at some of hockey's most significant team streaks.

Detroit broke the single-season mark of 20 set by Boston during the 1929-30 season and matched by Philadelphia in 1976.
