VIDEO: Rangers score two shorthanded goals on the same penalty kill vs. Leafs

The short-handed effort was in full effect for the New York Rangers on Wednesday night as Ryan McDonough and Dominic Moore each found the back of the net on the same penalty kill against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Madison Square Garden.

At 5:18 of the third period, Rangers center Brad Richards went to the box for a trip on Toronto's Nazem Kadri with New York trailing the Maple Leafs 2-0, and 16 seconds later,  the Rangers were on the board.

McDonough's shot deflected off Leafs defenseman Dion Phaneuf  and goalie Jonathan Bernier to make it 2-1. Moore capitalized on a two-on-one opportunity with Derek Stepan just 1:19 later to tie the game.

This marks the second time in just four games that Toronto has allowed two short-handed goals during the course of one two-minute minor. The Leafs surrendered a pair to Michael Grabner in a 5-4 OT loss to the New York Islanders last week.

The Maple Leafs overcame their blunders, eventually winning 3-2 in overtime, but short-handed-goals have been a problem for Toronto, which has allowed 10 thus far this season and is tied for league's worst in that department.
