Monday night's game between the Dallas Stars and Columbus Blue Jackets was postponed after Stars forward Rich Peverley collapsed suddenly on his team's bench, sending teammates and coaches into a panic. Peverley was attended by medical officials before being transported to a local hospital, where he is now conscious and in stable condition, according to reports.

The incident occurred just 6:23 into the first period, and both teams rushed to the Dallas bench while yells for paramedics could be heard. The players were evidently shaken up, gathering at center ice for several minutes before exiting the ice. The game was delayed for almost an hour before the postponement was announced.

The Stars' Twitter account reported that Peverley was successfully treated for a cardiac event and that more information would be provided as it becomes available. Back in September, Peverley, 31, underwent a procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat that was discovered in a pre-training camp physical.
