The Pittsburgh Penguins jumped out to 2-0 lead in the first period against the San Jose Sharks, thanks to goals from Bryan Rust and Conor Sheary, as well as some puck wizardry from Sidney Crosby.

The Pittsburgh Penguins opened up the scoring in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the San Jose Sharks with two goals in a span of 1:02, with tallies coming from rookies Bryan Rust and Conor Sheary.

Just under 13 minutes into the first period, Penguins defenseman Justin Shultz fired a shot from the slot that deflected to Rust, who deposited the puck into an open net.

It was the fourth goal in three games for the 24-year-old, including  three straight goals for Pittsburgh. The winger has notched six goals in 18 games this postseason after totaling four in 41 regular season games.

The Penguins quickly built on their momentum after the icebreaker, with captain Sidney Crosby sending an incredible backhand pass to Sheary to double the lead.

The Melrose, Mass., native picked up his third goal of the postseason on the play. He scored seven goals and added three assists for 10 points in 44 regular season games this season.
