Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo of China finally won an Olympic gold medal, outscoring teammates Pang Qing and Tong Jian in the figure skating pairs final.

When Shen Xue, 31, and Zhao Hongbo, 36, finished their routine, Zhao knelt to the ice, burying his face in his hands while his wife patted his back. He pumped his fist several times while she beamed, her grin wide and bright. This is their fourth Olympics.

Pang Qing and Tong Jian won Monday's free skate to jump from fourth after the short program to a silver medal.

America's most decorated Alpine skier, Bode Miller earned a bronze medal in the downhill on Monday. He finished nine-hundredths of a second behind winner Didier Defago of Switzerland, the smallest margin between gold and bronze in the history of the event, which began in 1948.

Bode Miller's bronze in the downhill was the first U.S. medal in the event since Tommy Moe took gold in 1994 in Lillehammer. The only other American to have won a downhill medal was Bill Johnson, who won gold in 1984.

"It's such a relief to get a medal," Miller said. "The fact that those other guys beat me to the hundredth of a second doesn't bother me."
