Nick Goepper's path isn't the normal one for a skiier. Far from the traditional mountain states along the Rockies or in the northeast, Goepper grew up skiing on a 300-foot “mountain” and practicing on a homemade snow park in his backyard in Lawrenceburg, Ind. But Goepper says it made all the difference. The two time Winter X Games gold medalist is poised to become a breakout star in the Sochi Games, where slopestyle skiing is one of 12 first time events on the schedule.
