Stoke City fans serenaded American midfielder Geoff Cameron with chants of “USA, USA” before his game-winning penalty kick against Luton Town on Tuesday.

The Potters and Hatters were tied 1–1 after extra time, so the match went to penalties. Both sides made their first seven penalty kicks, but a Luton miss set Cameron up with a chance to be the hero.

“I thought Geoff did really well when he came on the pitch and we needed his power and athleticism to make sure we didn't concede again,” manager Mark Hughes said, according to the Stoke Sentinel.

The Premier League club survived a scare against the fourth-tier challenger and drew Championship side Fulham in the third round.
