Champions League group draw: Man City gets Barcelona, Bayern to face Atletico
Thursday August 25th, 2016

Cristiano Ronaldo beat out Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale for UEFA Best Player in Europe honors, winning the award for the second time in three years.

Last season, Ronaldo led Real Madrid to a UEFA Champions League title before helping Portugal win the 2016 European Championship.

Ronaldo scored 35 goals for Real Madrid in La Liga and 16 goals in Champions League competition last season. He scored three goals for Portugal at Euro 2016.

Barcelona's Lionel Messi won the award last season. Ronaldo joins Messi as the only player to win the award twice.

The winner was announced at Thursday's UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony. Real Madrid was drawn with Borussia Dortmund, Sporting CP and Legia Warsaw.

Real Madrid hosts Celta Vigo on Saturday.
