Takuma Sato Wins Indianapolis 500 Under Caution with No Fans in the Stands

Sato was locked in a battle with Scott Dixon for much of the race, Dixon led for 111 laps

Takuma Sato has won his second career Indianapolis 500 after a late crash saw the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” end under caution. Sato was locked in a battle with Scott Dixon for much of the race, Dixon actually led a race-leading 111 laps - moving into third on the career list of laps led. This was the first time the Indy 500 was run in August, and the first 500 with no fans in attendance, but this wasn't the first time the race finished under caution. The most recent finish under caution was 2013, when Tony Kanaan won.
