Report: Drew Brees Contract Discussions Could Progress This Weekend

Contract talks between the New Orleans Saints and their star quarterback, Drew Brees, haven't been progressing much in recent weeks.  Brees is in the final year of his current deal, and says that he wants to finish his career with New Orleans; the team, for their part, would like to keep the five-time Pro Bowler at the head of their offense.  But no real progress has been made.

That may change when the team travels to St. Louis to play the Rams this weekend, according to a report from Mike Triplett of The Times-Picayune.  According to Triplett, the two sides "will likely touch base," as Brees's agent Tom Condon is based out of St. Louis.

Brees has thrown for 2,477 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions through seven games of the 2011 season, while completing 70.9% of his passes.
