Chargers' Mathews May Miss Week 9 with Groin Strain

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews may miss the team's Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers, according to the Sporting News.

Mathews, who is seventh in the NFL in scrimmage yards, was injured in Monday night's loss to Kansas City. He has already missed portions of three games with injuries.

Fortunately for the Chargers, it appears the team will be getting backup running back Mike Tolbert back from injury next week. Tolbert missed Monday's game with both an injured hand and hamstring. He is expected to play Sunday.

Mathews has been impressive in spurts for San Diego, but he has lacked consistency and durability. He has rushed for 509 yards and three touchdowns so far this season.
