Report: Owners Persuading NBA Commissioner David Stern to Veto Chris Paul Deal
Update: The deal is off.
League sources have told Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports that several owners have contacted NBA Commissioner David Stern in an attempt to convince him to veto a three team deal that would send Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers. Paul's current team, the New Orleans Hornets, is owned by the NBA, which has upset many owners, Wojnarowski has reported.
The deal, reportedly agreed upon earlier Thursday, would send Paul to the Lakers. Pau Gasol would go to Houston, while Lamar Odom and a trio of Rockets would head to New Orleans. In addition to the report that owners have been communicating with Stern, Wojnarowski is citing sources that have said the NBA has contacted New Orleans general manager Dell Demps in an attempt to get him to kill the deal.
