Report: Sam Hurd Has Been Released After Drug String

Chicago Bears wide receiver Sam Hurd has been released by the Chicago Bears after being charged with drug conspiracy for allegedly planning to sell marijuana and cocaine, according to WGN.

CBS reported previously that Hurd was a top drug dealer in the Chicago area. Prior to his arrest he had been trying to orchestrate a distribution deal with an undercover agent who had been posing as a North Texas area supplier.

Hurd told the agent he and a co-conspirator were distributing upwards of four kilograms of cocaine a week in Chicago but “it wasn’t enough.” Hurd then reportedly told the agent he was seeking five to ten kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week.
