Matt Barkley Confirms He Will Return To USC For His Senior Season

Rising senior Matt Barkley officially announced his intention to return to USC during a press conference today.

“I know in my heart I have not yet finished my journey as a Trojan football player,” Barkley said.

Barkley expressed his gratitude toward those who he consulted with about his potential NFL future. He told the USC faithful in attendance that while he believes he is currently ready to play quarterback in the NFL, he also believes he has a unique chance to help the Trojans compete for a title next season.

This year Barkley led the USC Trojans to a 10-2 record, including a 7-2 mark  in the Pac-12. As a result of NCAA sanctions, the Trojans were not eligible for postseason play, which means despite defeating UCLA 50-0 in their final game of the season, they were forced to watch as the Bruins represented the Pac-12 South in the conference title game.
