Bears Hire Phil Emery As Next General Manager

The Chicago Bears announced today that Phil Emery will be their next general manager. He becomes only the fifth GM in team history.

Emery had spent the previous three seasons as director of college scouting for the Kansas City Chiefs, but he had worked for the Bears previously. He originally entered the NFL one of the team's scouts between 1998 and 2004.

Emery beat out a handful of other qualified candidate to win the job, including Bears director of player personnel Tim Ruskell, New England Patriots director of pro personnel Jason Licht, San Diego Chargers director of player personnel Jimmy Raye and New York Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross.
