Marvin Williams 'Vehemently Denies' Asking Hawks For Trade

Wednesday February 22nd, 2012

Earlier today, word broke from Chris Broussard of ESPN that the Atlanta Hawks' Marvin Williams "wants out because he wants to play somewhere where he'll have an increased role offensively." Williams himself has since gotten word of the rumor, and he's adamant that it's not true.

"He vehemently denies ever asking for a trade and said, 'you know that's not me,'" Hawks PR man Arthur Triche tweeted.

The rumor broke while the Hawks were on a flight to New York, where they take on the Knicks tomorrow night. Williams heard the "news" while attending the funeral of a family friend. Williams has become the fifth option in the Hawks' starting five offensively, with his 9.6 points per game this year the lowest clip since his rookie season. The Hawks are chugging along at 19-13, ranked sixth in the Eastern Conference.
