Report: Colts Intend To Franchise Tag Robert Mathis If Deal Isn't Reached

The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly attempting to sign Robert Mathis to a new deal, however if they are unable, a source has told ESPN that they will use their franchise tag on him.

Mathis recorded 43 tackles, three forced fumbles, and 9.5 sacks for the Colts in 2011.  In 2010 he has 11 sacks, 60 total tackles, and one forced fumble.

Over the course of his career, he has tallied 83.5 sacks, which is second all-time in Colts history. First all-time is current teammate Dwight Freeney, who has 102.5 career sacks.
