Report: Spurs To Sign Reserve Guard Patty Mills

The San Antonio Spurs are on the verge of signing guard Patty Mills, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The 23-year-old Australian native was recently cleared by the Chinese Basketball Association to return to the United States and rejoin the NBA. Mills last played stateside for the Portland Trail Blazers; once the Blazers renounce his rights and make him a free agent, he will officially sign with San Antonio.

The Spurs have been in the market for a reserve guard since the retirement of T.J. Ford earlier this week. They were expected to pursue Derek Fisher, who was recently traded from Los Angeles to Houston and now expects a buyout, but instead the Spurs have gone with Mills as the backup for point guard Tony Parker from this point forward.
