Nuggets' Rudy Fernandez Done For Regular Season With Back Injury

Friday March 23rd, 2012

Denver Nuggets guard Rudy Fernandez needs surgery on his lower back and is expected to miss the rest of the regular season, the team announced today.

Fernandez missed 12 games earlier this season due to a lower back strain, and the injury flared up during Monday night's loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Further examination showed that Fernandez needed surgery. Fernandez, 26, is averaging 8.6 points, 2.4 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game for the Nuggets. Denver has gone 4-4 in its last eight games and slipped to seventh in the Western Conference at 26-21, in danger of falling out of the West playoff picture.
