Kobe Bryant Will Sit Tonight, Meaning Kevin Durant Will Be Scoring Champion

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant will not play in tonight’s game against the Sacramento Kings, according to Sports Illustrated’s Sam Amick, meaning Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant will clinch his third consecutive scoring title.

Bryant needed 38 points in tonight’s game to pass Durant as the league’s leading scorer for the season. Entering this afternoon, Bryant was averaging 27.9 points per game to Durant’s 28.0.
The 33-year-old guard has led the league in scoring twice in his career, but has not done so since the 2006-07 season. Bryant’s best year came in 2005-06 when he averaged a league leading 35.4 points per contest.
