It has been less than a week since Stan Van Gundy parted ways with the Orlando Magic, but speculation has already attached his name to the vacant Charlotte Bobcats head coaching job.

Not so fast, says Van Gundy. Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News reports that Van Gundy intends to take a year off from basketball, but does plan to return to coaching for the 2013-2014 season. Van Gundy owns a career .647 winning percentage in eight years as a head coach, and led the Magic to a 37-29 record in the lockout-shortened 2011-2012 NBA Season. The Magic made the playoffs in each of Van Gundy's five seasons in charge, and ended this season with a 4-1 series loss to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs.
