Report: Lakers meeting with Magic about Dwight Howard

The Los Angeles Lakers are meeting with the Orlando Magic today to discuss a potential trade for center Dwight Howard, reports Yahoo! Sports's Marc Spears.

Brooklyn was long considered the favorite to land Howard, but the Nets reportedly dropped out of trade talks with Orlando last week.

The Lakers and Rockets are now considered the two most likely destinations for Howard if he is still traded before the season starts.

Los Angeles can offer a package built around center Andrew Bynum. It would be hard for Houston -- or any other team -- to top that deal. But Orlando would also want Bynum to agree to stay in Orlando for the long term, and there have been indications that Bynum wouldn't sign a contract extension.
