Division III quarterback Sam Durley throws for NCAA record 736 yards

Sam Durley of Eureka College, a Division III school, broke the NCAA record for passing yards throwing for 736 yards in a 62-55 victory over Knox on Saturday.

Durley, who completed 34 of 52 passes and threw five touchdowns, broke the previous mark of 731 yards set by Zamir Amin of Menlo College in a 2000 game against Cal Lutheran. Durley broke the record when he threw the winning touchdown pass with 20 seconds left in the game.

“I thought maybe high 300s,” Durley said when asked about his passing yards. “We were so focused on driving down the field and getting the win. They told me afterward and I was pretty speechless. It’s definitely something that’s pretty cool.”

Two receivers went over 200 yards in receptions.
