Redskins to sign Chris Cooley after Fred Davis' season-ending injury

The Washington Redskins are expected to sign tight end Chris Cooley on Monday, pending the results of a physical, according to multiple reports on Twitter Sunday night.

The signing of Cooley, a former Redskin who was released in August, was a necessary and logical step for the team after it lost tight end Fred Davis for the season Sunday to a torn Achilles tendon.

Cooley had been working out for other teams, but wasn't in a hurry to get back to playing if it wasn't a good situation.
