Cooley is scheduled to undergo a physical Monday and his signing will become official after that, barring any unexpected last-minute snags.

The signing of Cooley, a former Redskin who was released in August, was a necessary and logical step for the team after it lost tight end Fred Davis for the season Sunday to a torn Achilles tendon.
Cooley had been working out for other teams, but wasn't in a hurry to get back to playing if it wasn't a good situation.
