Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray will likely not play in Sunday's NFC East showdown against the New York Giants because of a foot injury, reports the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

"Hopefully he’s just progressing,” Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said. “He’s moving around better. He’s in the meetings and we’ll just see where he is. I don’t anticipate him practicing today. We’ll just see where he is moving forward.”

But in answering a question about Murray walking on crutches to avoid putting weight on the foot, Garrett all but confirmed his absence for Sunday’s game against the Giants. “Oh, I think we’re just being very careful about any weight that we’re putting on him,” Garrett said. “The more time we give him the better.”

Murray suffered a sprained foot in the Cowboys' loss to the Baltimore Ravens two weeks ago. Backup Felix Jones did not practice on Wednesday because of a bone bruise.
