Former Cy Young award winner Brandon Webb is retiring from baseball at age 33, according to a statement from his agents to

Webb had a seven year career in the majors, all with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but hasn't appeared in a game since 2009 due to ongoing shoulder problems. Webb attempted a comeback with the Texas Rangers in 2011 and was believed to be getting back into the game again until Monday's announcement. Webb will be best remembered for an excellent three-year stretch with the Diamondbacks from 2006-2008. In that time, Webb made three straight All-Star games, won the 2006 Cy Young award, and finished second in Cy Young voting in 2007 and 2008. Webb finishes his career with an 87-62 record and a 3.27 ERA.
