Lakers to play without Metta World Peace, Dwight Howard tonight vs. Nets

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without forward Metta World Peace and center Dwight Howard for their road game against the Brooklyn Nets tonight.

World Peace was suspended one game by the NBA for grabbing the throat of Detroit guard Brandon Knight and striking him in the jaw during the Lakers' 98-97 victory over the Pistons on Sunday.

Howard will miss his third straight game after injuring his right shoulder last month.

"As soon as the pain goes away he'll play," Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni said on Sunday. "Hopefully that's next game, but there's no guarantees."
