Boston Celtics' Kevin Garnett says he will not waive his no-trade clause

Though the Boston Celtics are reportedly discussing a trade that would send star big man Kevin Garnett to the Los Angeles Clippers, all talks involving Garnett could be rendered moot.

The 36-year-old told media members in Houston that he would not waive his no-trade clause under any circumstance, according to USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt.

Garnett, playing in his sixth season in Boston after 12 years with the Minnesota Timberwolves, insisted that his loyalty lies with the Celtics and that he is focused entirely on leading his current team. He re-signed with Boston during the offseason for three years and $36 million.

"Why would I come back and make the visits to rally this team to go further only to be set up to have change?"

When Garnett sat down in his chair for his availability with news reporters, he began taking questions about how much Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge talks to him about trade scenarios.

"Do I need to call Danny right now?" Garnett said.

The trade questions kept coming.

"That's what today's going to be about it," Garnett said. "This is what y'all want to talk about today? You want to talk about trades?

Well, the trade deadline is less than week away.

"I get it. I get it," Garnett said. "It's all good. If it's up to me, I'm going to live and die green all day."

The rumored deal currently on the table would send 24-year-old center DeAndre Jordan and 23-year-old guard Eric Bledsoe to the Celtics as two key pieces in a potential rebuilding effort.
