The New Orleans Hornets said Wednesday night rookie guard Austin Rivers will miss four to six weeks with a broken right hand.

Rivers broke the fourth metacarpal bone in his right hand in the Hornets' 108-102 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, in which the team did not score in the final 6:22 of the game, blowing all of a 21-point lead they had in the final minute of the third quarter.

Rivers, the tenth overall selection in last year's draft, is averaging 6.1 points and 2.1 assists per game for the Hornets (21-41). Rivers played 15 minutes against the Lakers and scored 10 points on 5-6 shooting.
