Rick Pitino had a memorable Monday this week.
First, he found out he would be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame this year. Then he received a $2.7 million bonus from the University of Louisville. Later that night, he would go on to win a national championship for the school. As the cherry on top, he earned another $150,000 for winning the big game.
But mid-way through the Cardinals season, Pitino had made a promise to his players, one he said in all honesty he didn't think he would have to fulfill.
In a report from CBS News, Pitino said that he told his players he would get a tattoo on his left shoulder of a cardinal that read, "2013 champions" if the team wins the national championship. The Cardinals defeated the Michigan Wolverines on April 8 by a score of 82-76 and now Pitino said he is living up to his promise:
"I said it ... not believing this was going to be a reality but I am going to get it. I'm a man of my word. I'm going to get it on my left shoulder. It will be a cardinal and it will say 2013 champions."
