Shane Battier gets surprise truckload of Bud Light

If Miami Heat forward Shane Battier seems a little tipsy during the playoffs, it might be from the truckload of Bud Light he received as a surprise delivery in April to feed his superstition of "staying loyal to Bud Light."

Battier told Steve Aschburner of NBA.com that he tries to drink the same beer and doesn't want to chance his luck by switching to another brand. The comments came in March, amid the Heat's historic 27 game win streak, after Miami came back from a 27-point deficit in Cleveland to beat the Cavaliers:

"Well, I try to drink the same beer – Bud Light – but that’s about it. You never know. I don’t want to chance luck and switch up brands, so I’m staying loyal to Bud Light.”

Budweiser apparently caught wind of the comments and on Tuesday posted a video to its YouTube channel showing a truckload of Bud Light -- 1,100 cases to be exact -- being delivered to the Battier residence. The truck driver said "we wanted to make sure we were loyal to him as well." Battier was home at the time of the delivery and said, "I'll take it all."

Battier, known for being one of the top defenders in the NBA, averaged 6.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 24 minutes per game this season. The Heat look to take a 2-0 series lead against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night.
