The Patriots have reached a two-year deal with wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins, reports Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean. Hawkins was released by the Titans last week. He was drafted by Tennessee in the fourth round of the 2008 draft (126th overall) and has played for the team for the past five seasons.

From the Nashville Tennessean report:

Hawkins had a breakout season in 2011 when he caught 47 passes for 470 yards and a touchdown. He was rewarded the following offseason with a three-year, $7.2 million contract.

But the Titans decided to release Hawkins, who was scheduled to make $1.9 million in 2013, last week because of depth at the position, and his hefty salary.
