Washington Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker will undergo surgery to repair the torn quadriceps tendon he suffered in Week 2 of the 2012 season, reports Comcast SportsNet Washington.

Carriker, 29, will have surgery on the tendon for the third time. It caused him to only play in two games last season.

The timetable for his return is unknown but if he ends up on the physically unable to perform list, he will have to sit for the Redskins' first six regular-season games.
