ProFootballTalk reported Saturday afternoon that the Patriots and tight end Rob Gronkowski were not on the same page regarding Gronkowski's return from back and arm injuries.
Now a followup report by ProFootballTalk reports the opposite, clarifying that there is no disagreement between Gronkowski and his team, as previously suggested.
The initial report claimed that there was tension between the Patriots, who want their star tight end back on the field Sunday, and Gronkowski's camp, who wants to play it safe.
ProFootballTalk's latest says there is no disagreement between the two parties, despite weeks of rumors that Gronkowski is ready to play when he consistently has not been. From the report:
We’re now hearing that the team and Gronkowski’s camp aren’t at odds regarding his status, contrary to a report that they are.Gronkowski did not travel with the team
The more likely explanation is that the Patriots are creating the impression, or allowing it to exist, that Gronkowski is getting closer to playing, forcing their weekly opponents to account during game planning for his possible presence on the field.
