Michael Vick likely out for Eagles' matchup with Cowboys on Sunday

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick thinks he's still a week away from regaining the kind of confidence he needs to be in game-ready shape, which means he will likely be out for Sunday's home game vs. the Dallas Cowboys.

According to a report Tuesday from Paul Sheridan of ESPN, Vick described his lingering hamstring injury as a "bad pull," admitting that last week he felt only "60, 65 percent" ready to return. He wouldn't quantify how he's feeling this week, and wouldn't rule out a possible return vs. the Cowboys, but said he thinks he still needs another week of rehab before he can really start doing things to position himself for a return to the field.

The 33-year-old originally suffered the injury in the 36-21 Week 2 road win against the New York Giants. He has to take extra precaution with this particular injury "because mine is up so high, and the way I run." If not, he admitted that trying to come back early could put himself at risk of being out another two to three weeks.

Assuming he doesn't play against the Cowboys but does return the following week, he would make his return Oct. 27 at home vs. the Giants.

Vick said he's not trying to change the way he approaches rehab or rush into returning because his legs are a big part of his game as a quarterback:

"It's a big part of what I do. I'm different. I see things differently, I feel things differently. That's part of my game. I think that's why I've had the success I've had. I won't try to change."

In Vick's place, Nick Foles will look to make his second consecutive start of the season. Last Sunday, Foles led the Eagles to a 31-20 victory over the Buccaneers.
