Shooting forward Ryan Anderson will miss one to three weeks with a fractured toe, the Pelicans announced Wednesday.

Anderson suffered a chip fracture in the second toe of his right foot, an injury that went undiscovered until he experienced discomfort at practice.

He was expected to be the Pelicans' first forward off the bench to start the season after averaging 16.2 ppg and making 213 3-pointers last season, the second-most in the NBA.

Anderson made headlines earlier this month when he discussed the grieving process following his discovery of his girlfriend — Gia Allemand who had been on “The Bachelor” — after she had committed suicide in August.
