The Minnesota Vikings will start Christian Ponder at quarterback Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, the team announced Friday.

Ponder will get his second straight start and his fifth of the season. The Vikings (1-6) have scored at least 24 points in each of Ponder's starts.

He went 14 of 21 for 145 yards and 38 yards rushing in last week's 44-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

"Christian Ponder gives us the best chance of winning," Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said.

The Vikings now have three healthy quarterbacks on the roster with newly acquired  Josh Freeman and third stringer Matt Cassel.

"As always, you're hoping that a guy will have a great game and you don't have to have these conversations going forward," Frazier said. "I'm hoping he has a great game on Sunday and can lead us to victory and move on from there. It's just like the rest of our season. It's one game at a time for us right now."
